Breakfast session: Research for sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth

Sponsored by Elsevier

SDG8, 'decent work and economic growth', combines the 'impact' and 'innovation' angles that are present in this summit. Globally, and in Europe, only 1.8% of SDG-related research is on SDG8. Academic-corporate collaboration on SDG8 is below average, despite the clear need for corporate innovation to advance on the targets. This discussion will explore the role of research to advance SDG8, including a view of universities leading the charge, examples of collaboration within the EU and with industry advancing progress on SDG8, and how research on 'decent work and economic growth' is related to other SDGs.
